HMR is a well-established, family-run business with over 16 years of experience in supplying, installing, and repairing domestic and commercial appliances.  

 

My journey began when I learned my partner was expecting our first child, Holly. I wanted a long-term job that I enjoyed, so I was fortunate to find an NVQ course accepting applicants. Without hesitation, I signed up and completed NVQ Levels 1 and 2 in electrical and electronic testing, followed by courses in first aid, PAT testing, megger testing, integrated and freestanding installation, COSHH, and manual handling. Alongside my studies, I worked at an appliance reuse centre, gaining a year’s worth of invaluable knowledge.  

 

I went on to work for Hoover-Candy as a field service engineer, completing their six-week domestic appliance training course in Wales. Later, I joined Comet as a field service engineer, completing an eight-week training course in Birmingham.  

 

Eventually, I secured a position with BSH Home Appliances (Bosch/Neff/Siemens), completing their eight-week training course in Milton Keynes. I loved the role, but the extensive travel—over 200 miles a day on top of six to ten jobs—became challenging as I was then a father of three: Holly, Mason, and newborn Ruby.  

 

That’s when I decided to start my own business.
